There is new hope that the Waltz Road Bridge construction project will be starting soon.
On Thursday, the Wayne County Board of Commissioners approved a construction contract between Wayne County and Toebe Construction, LLC of Wixom, to reconstruct the Waltz Road Bridge.
The bridge has been closed for over a year.
“Huron Township Supervisor David Glaab credits Wayne County Commissioner Al Haidous for keeping this crucial project on track and on time,” a statement from the supervisor’s office said.
“The reopening of the Waltz Road Bridge has been and continues to be our number one priority as it is critical to both our residents and business owners alike.”
According to the statement, Glaab anticipates that equipment will be on site in a matter of days to begin demolition of the old bridge.
Glaab reminded residents to refer to the township website for further updates.
According to Toebe Construction’s website, the company has been building the transportation infrastructure that supports the economies of Michigan and Ontario since 1922.
