Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy has charged Nathan Jordan-Donald Barks, 30, of Huron Township, in connection with the fatal shooting of his girlfriend, Dawn Sinkey, 36, also of Huron Township.

On Feb. 27 at 1:15 p.m., Huron Township police responded to a 911 call at a house in the 27430 block of Bordeau Street in the Huron Estates mobile home community.

Upon their arrival, officers located the victim with a gunshot wound to the chest.

Medics arrived on scene and transported the victim to a local hospital where she was pronounced dead.

It is alleged that an argument between the defendant and the victim escalated, and Barks fired a handgun, fatally wounding Sinkey, before fleeing the scene.

Barks has been charged with one count of second-segree murder, one count of felon in possession, and two counts of felony firearm.

He is expected to be arraigned this morning in 34th District Court.
