In an effort to be transparent with the public about police operations, the Huron Township Police Department released an annual use of force report.
In accordance with Huron Township Public Safety Policy 300.9, three separate use of force board meetings met throughout 2021 and 2022 to review use of force incidents involving Huron Township police.
A summary of the report says that the ratio of officer/citizen contacts resulting in a use of force is exceptionally low at 0.00056%.
“I credit this to sound hiring practices, thorough pre-employment background investigations, officer involved training, state of the art equipment, the professionalism of the Huron Township Police Department, and a high level of accountability,” the report said.
