Sandhill Crane Adventure Tour
Saturday, October 13th at 2 p.m. to 10 p.m.
Lake Erie Marshlands Museum, Brownstown
We will be hopping in the van and heading to the Pleasant Lake, MI area
to patrol some farm fields and back roads for Sandhill Cranes before heading
to the Haehnle Nature Preserve to watch as potentially thousands of cranes
come in for the evening. We will stop at a local restaurant for dinner (not included)
before heading back to Lake Erie. Space is limited to 12 individuals.

Knitting in Nature: Sharing Stitches
Saturday, October 13th at 10 a.m.
Oakwoods Nature Center, Flat Rock
From beginner to expert, let’s get together, relax, knit, crochet, teach and learn.
Have a cup of coffee and a treat or two and make some new friends! This is not
a class on knitting or crocheting. This is a monthly gathering of people who love
to knit and crochet and want to “share stitches.”.

Stories from the Passed: Cemetery Tales
Saturday, October 13th at 7 p.m
Willow Metropark, Huron Township
Join us for an evening of history and folklore as we explore the Huron Township Cemetery,
located in Willow Metropark. Begin the evening with an Interpreter-led hayride to the cemetery,
where the stories of some of those buried there will come-to-life! This is not a haunted attraction;
but an exciting way to learn about some local history.

Evening Lantern Tours

After a hayride, a lantern-bearing guide will lead you through the dark, pumpkin-lit woods
to encounter various characters and uncanny situations. This tour showcases Michigan’s

Owl Pellet Dissecting Day
Saturday, October 20th at 10 a.m. -2 p.m.
Lake Erie Marshlands Museum, Brownstown
Stop in anytime between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. and learn about owls, owl pellets,
and get your very own owl pellet dissection kit. Our staff will help you work
through the 0pellet to discover what the owl had for lunch, and we will attempt
to put the skeleton of the animal back together.

Halloween History Part 2: People & Origins

Enjoy an indoor program on Halloween history, followed by an Interpreter-led hike

Halloween candy collection. Kids (and adults) are encouraged to wear their costumes!

Pesky Critters
Saturday, October 27th at 10 a.m.

Have you ever been a victim of an animal who dug up your yard, smelled up your house,

critter has its place in our ecosystem. Join us to learn what makes these annoying animals
so important to you!

Museum Miscellaneous

The Marshlands Museum has over two thousand items in its collection. Guided by an interpreter,
this program series gives visitors a chance to investigate in detail some of the rarely seen items from
the backroom. If you have ever wondered what we have, now is your chance!
