Michigan State Police are urging drivers to slow down on the roads.

In a set of Tweets made on Tuesday, MSP reminded Michigan drivers that law enforcement agencies across the state are participating in extra speed enforcement through Feb. 28.

The campaign is meant to reduce the amount of fatal crashes due to speed.

MSP also released a set of eye-opening statistics on how speeding related to traffic crashes that occurred in 2020.

■ 11.2 percent of drivers aged 15 to 20 involved in crashes (4,650 out of 41,685) were speeding.
■ Out of all drivers who were drinking in crashes, 15.1 percent were speeding.
