The following letter was submitted by Patrick Coll:

Hello, my name is Patrick Coll and I am asking for your vote for election to the school board of Huron Schools.

I grew up in Warren, Michigan and chose to move to Huron Township with my wife, Rebecca, a veterinarian, in 2002 to raise our family.  My daughter, Emily, is currently a sophomore at Grand Valley State University studying to be a doctor and Luke, a sophomore at Huron High School, is studying to be a Major League Baseball pitcher.

I recently retired from Allen Park Public Schools where I taught science for twenty- eight years.  I also coached football, basketball and track at Allen Park High School until it was time to coach/drive our kids to their activities. I had the pleasure of coaching several years for the Huron Junior Chiefs and Huron Youth Basketball Association.

I received my teaching degree from Central Michigan University and my Master degree from Marygrove College.  I am a parishioner at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Waltz.  I have been a school board member and basketball coach for St. John’s as well as being involved with the men’s club.

I am interested in the school board position to use the skills I obtained from 28 years as a classroom teacher and time as a school board member to help the Huron School District continue to have the BEST teachers/schools in the area. I also want to make sure that Huron Schools continue to prepare your students  for whatever road they choose to take, whether that be college, the work force, armed forces or trades.  I am asking for your support in the election to the Huron School Board.

Thank you,

Patrick Coll
