Meet the candidates column The Huron Hub Posted Oct. 6, 2020
Editor’s note: As the 2020 election draws near, the residents in Huron Township would like to hear more about each candidate that is running for office or reelection.
Recently, every person running on the Huron Township ballot was invited to use The Huron Hub as a platform to get their voice heard. All letters in this column are submitted by the candidates themselves and are not edited by Huron Hub staff. Letters are posted in the order they are received, and candidates have until Oct. 12 to submit their letters. Letters will not be accepted from the candidates after Oct. 12.
Readers can access all candidate letters on a special section of HuronHub.com HERE.
The following letter was submitted by David Glaab:
With family roots that extend over 145 years, I have a lifetime of public service to the people of Huron Township. As your Supervisor, I have worked hard to protect our families and keep our neighborhoods safe by ensuring our police and public safety have the personnel and resources they need to perform their jobs effectively. As the Chairman of the Downriver Community Conference and Aerotropolis , I have positioned our township to take advantage of emerging technologies and development opportunities to boost our local economy and create good paying jobs. As an executive board member of the Southeast Michigan Council of Governments, I partnered with the Mayor of Romulus to obtain a grant that produced an engineering study putting us one step closer to solving the problem of blocked railroad crossings. Partnering with our Wayne County Commissioner Al Haidous we secured an attractive more functional Waltz Road bridge and we are poised to make significant improvements to our downtown including new roads, sidewalks and lights.
While much as been accomplished, much remains to be done. It has been an honor to serve as your Supervisor and I ask for your support to continue to build on our successes for an even brighter future.
