The American Legion Huron Valley Post 231 has a new box located outside their post for unserviceable American flag drop-offs.

“Presently members of the community have tied their ‘Old Glory’ to our front or back door handle in a plastic bag,” said Bob Langlois, adjutant at the post. “Now we have a black and white mail box with the American Flag and POW/MIA decals proudly showing a place where the community can now deposit their worn out American flags.”

Langlois said the flags are saved and then properly disposed of by Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts during a ceremony.

The drop box is located outside American Legion Post 231, 37060 Huron River Drive in New Boston.
