FREEZE WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM MIDNIGHT TONIGHT TO 9 AM EDT SATURDAY
Sub-freezing temperatures as low as 25 expected
WHERE…Portions of southeast Michigan.
WHEN…From midnight tonight to 9 AM EDT Saturday.
IMPACTS…Frost and freeze conditions will kill crops, other sensitive vegetation and possibly damage unprotected outdoor plumbing.
ADDITIONAL DETAILS…Arctic air has spread across the region and will hold through tonight with a widespread hard freeze expected across all of Southeast Michigan tonight into tomorrow morning. These temperatures in the mid and upper 20s will challenge both daily record lows and all time record low temperatures for the month of May.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS…
Take steps now to protect tender plants from the cold. To prevent freezing and possible bursting of outdoor water pipes they should be wrapped, drained, or allowed to drip slowly. Those that have in-ground sprinkler systems should drain them and cover above- ground pipes to protect them from freezing.
