Boat recovered during search for father, son that went missing on Huron River

Authorities say Justin and Jaxon Oaks were last seen near the area of the Downriver Marina boat launch on March 29. After launching their boat and going fishing on the Huron River, they did not return to their vehicle, which was found parked at the Downriver Marina boat launch with an empty boat trailer attached to it.

The boat used by Justin and Jaxon Oaks, who went missing last weekend during a fishing trip on the Huron River, was found Sunday by search teams.

Search teams and volunteers from all over the area have been working to find the father and son.

At 9:50 a.m. on March 29, Justin Oaks, 29, took his 6-year-old son Jaxon, fishing on the Huron River between Lake Erie and the I-75 overpass.

State police investigation determined that the last contact with Justin was via text message with a family member at approximately 11:58 a.m. on March 29.

Justin and Jaxon did not return to their vehicle which was found parked at the Downriver Marina boat launch with an empty boat trailer attached to it.
