Superintendent posts statement on upcoming order to close schools

Posted Friday, March 13, 2020

Here is a statement from the superintendent of Huron Schools on Governor Whitmer’s order to close all K-12 schools until April 6:

Tonight, Governor Whitmer announced that she is closing all Michigan School buildings for three weeks, beginning on Monday, March 16, 2020. The Governor’s office and the Department of Education will be issuing guidelines in the next few days that we will be carefully reviewing and following.

There are still many questions that have not been answered, and we will be working with Wayne County RESA, the Michigan Department of Education, and the Michigan Department of Health in order to get answers to these questions in the near future.

As soon as we have more information, we will pass that along to you.

Thank you for all of your cooperation and patience in this turbulent time. This is a first for all of us, and I appreciate the willingness to work as a team that I have seen from our school community. It truly reminds me that we are one big family.

Sincerely,

Donovan Rowe
