A 30-year-old woman from Dearborn Heights is dead and another driver is seriously injured after a crash that occurred early Tuesday morning on I-94 in Romulus.
According to Michigan State Police, at 1:10 a.m., troopers responded to eastbound I-94 near Middle Belt Road in the Romulus for a traffic crash.
A preliminary investigation revealed that a Ford sedan was disabled and blocking the right center lane, with the driver inside.
MSP said the car’s 4-way flashers were activated.
The woman, driving a Jeep, rear ended the disabled car.
Her vehicle then came to rest in the median and caught fire after the crash.
“The driver of the Jeep was pronounced dead on the scene. The driver of the Ford has a possiable fractured back and was transported to a local hospital. Investigation is continuing by the Metro South Post,” MSP said in a statement.
MSP said the woman’s family has been notified as of late Tuesday morning.
