A fundraiser is being held Feb. 15 at the Holiday Inn in Southgate for a local family in need of a little extra help during a difficult time.
Chris Ostrowski, a husband and father from Belleville whose children attended Huron School District, was diagnosed with Leukemia a few years ago.
In August, his condition worsened and he needed to start treatment.
“Chris and Connie have a small business and he’s only able to work very few hours a week since his cancer diagnosis. The chemotherapy medication leaves him too tired,” said Heather Holbrook, a family friend and organizer of the Chris Ostrowski recovery fundraiser.
“We’ve raised over $7000 with GoFundMe and are hoping to raise a total of $25,000 for his medical bills and to offset his lost income. We can sell 300 tickets to our fundraiser, and currently we’ve sold 225.”
Several prizes will be raffled during the event, including four Red Wings tickets, four Pistons tickets, a romantic get away evening at the Holiday Inn, massages, and multiple gift certificates to local businesses.
