We’re in for a real soaker this weekend.

The National Weather Service in Detroit has issued a flood watch for Wayne County lasting through late Saturday night.

Multiple rounds of moderate to heavy rain are expected to develop tonight and continue through Saturday night.

Total rain amounts in the 2 to 4 inch range are likely, with some locations exceeding 3 inches by the time precipitation ends late Saturday night, especially where thunderstorms occur.

While most of the precipitation will fall as rain, a transition to freezing rain or sleet is likely along and north of M-59 on Saturday.

Flooding of low-lying areas and along small creeks and streams is likely.

Overland and urban flooding may result in road closures. Moderate to major river flooding may develop later this weekend into early next week.

The public should monitor later forecasts and be alert for possible flood warnings.

Those living in areas prone to flooding should be prepared to take action should flooding develop.
