Brown Elementary will begin the new school year with a new principal.
David Thompson was hired by the district and will be ready to begin his new role at the school come September.
“Mr. Thompson has been working in education for the past 19 years. He earned a Masters of Arts degree in Educational Leadership from Eastern Michigan University, and he served as a teacher at the elementary level for 13 years in the Inkster Public School District. For the past 6 years, Mr. Thompson has served as an Elementary Principal in a neighboring School District,” said Donovan Rowe, superintendent of Huron Schools, in a letter to the district.
“We had 100 applicants for the Brown Principal position, and the candidate field was fiercely competitive. Principals, administrators, and teachers from all over Michigan, and even other states, applied for the opening. We spent hours reading over applications and credentials as we selected 11 candidates for our interview process.”
