Severe weather is possible today, especially during the afternoon hours, according to the National Weather Service.

Here is a message from NWS Detroit:

Numerous showers and thunderstorms are expected this afternoon and evening, with scattered severe storms possible. The main threat will be damaging wind gusts up to 70 mph, but heavy downpours, hail, and frequent lightning will also be threats. The most likely timing for severe weather will be from 3 to 8 pm today. Stay alert to rapidly changing weather conditions if you have outdoor plans today and be ready to take shelter if a thunderstorm moves into your area.
