Huron Township Police searched the house of a man missing from Oakwoods Metropark since July 11 and determined that the house is vacant.
Everette Robbins, public safety director, told The Huron Hub on Wednesday that Huron Police, working in conjunction with Metroparks Police, searched Mitchell Saari’s house Wednesday and found it to be vacant.
Saari, 64, entered Oakwoods Metropark at 6:11 p.m. on July 11 and hasn’t been seen since.
Robbins said the Huron Township dispatch center has been receiving several calls over the past few days from residents concerned that Saari might have been inside his house in New Boston.
Saari was first reported as missing by authorities on July 16.
The gray 2013 Ford F-150 that Saari drives was found empty at the horse staging area of the park.
Because Saari went missing from Oakwoods Metropark, the Metropark Police Department is leading the investigation with the assistance of Huron Police.
“Metroparks PD continues to search the area around both Willow and Oakwood Metroparks with negative results. We’re still requesting the public’s assistance in locating Mitchell Saari,” said Michael Reese, chief of Metroparks Police, on Monday.
Police are asking for assistance from the public in locating Saari.
He’s reportedly an avid biker and often visits the metroparks to use the trails.
