The National Weather Service in Detroit/Pontiac has issued a:
Flood Warning for… Wayne County in southeastern Michigan… Southern Oakland County in southeastern Michigan… Washtenaw County in southeastern Michigan…
Until 315 AM EDT.
Rainfall from evening showers and thunderstorms totaled 1 to 3 inches in many locations with local amounts of 4 inches or more. Additional pockets of heavy rainfall will continue this evening and bring over an inch of additional rain to localized spots before the activity ends overnight. It will then take several more hours for flood waters to recede.
Some locations that will experience flooding include… Warren, Ann Arbor, Livonia, Troy, Southfield, Taylor, Novi, Romulus, Ypsilanti, Saline, Grosse Pointe, Chelsea, Dexter, Manchester, Downtown Detroit, Canton, Detroit, Dearborn, Royal Oak and Wyandotte.
This Flood Warning will replace the earlier F lash Flood Warning as well as Flood Advisories issued earlier this evening.
AFFECTED AREAS: OAKLAND, MI … WAYNE, MI … WASHTENAW, MI
Instructions:
Turn around, don’t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Runoff from the earlier heavy rainfall has caused flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as other drainage areas and low lying spots.
