This event from the Huron Township Historical Commission events page takes place Saturday, June 8:
Join us along with Downriver for Veterans and Flat Rock Historical Society to clean-up one of our local cemeteries! This cemetery dates back to the 1700s and is located on WIll Carleton Rd. (About 1 mile West of Telegraph Rd.) in Huron Township. It is in great need of brush and yard clean-up as well as headstone cleaning. If you are available to come out all day, part of the day, a few hours…WE COULD USE YOUR HELP! Please bring yard gloves, hat, sunscreen, knee pads, etc.
Lunch will be provided.
Downriver for Veterans has worked hard to secure yard equipment, cleaning supplies and some volunteers from their organization. They have also worked to get an entire flag ensemble including the pole, flags, lighting and installation donated by Flag Poles, Etc. in Holly, MI !! (This cemetery has never had a flagpole.)
WE ARE LOOKING FOR A FEW PIECES OF EQUIPMENT THAT HAS NOT BEEN SECURED:
A LARGE WATER TANK (used only for water) – FILLED. There is not a source of water in the cemetery and water is needed to clean the headstones.
WOODCHIPPER
*Please PM us if you can help with either of those items)
