State Rep. Darrin Camilleri (D-Brownstown Township) was joined by Congresswoman Debbie Dingell (MI-12) and state Rep. Cara Clemente (D-Lincoln Park) as well as officials from the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes and Energy (EGLE) this morning for a tour of the former McLouth Steel site in Trenton.

The site has been closed since 1995 and was recently sold to Crown Enterprises, who is charged with demolishing the buildings on the property and beginning environmental clean-up overseen by the EPA and EGLE.

Following the tour, Rep. Camilleri said: “The clean-up of McLouth is a high priority throughout our Downriver communities, and this tour allowed us to see the progress firsthand. I appreciate the transparency shown today by Crown, and I am committed to working with them, as well as the EPA and EGLE, every step of the way to ensure a proper clean-up that keeps our air, water and communities safe.”
