TADPOLES: Planting a Rainbow
Saturday, April 6th at 10 a.m.
Oakwoods Nature Center, Flat Rock
This monthly nature series for young children, is themed from books by author Lois Ehlert.
This month’s theme is based off the “planting a Rainbow” book. Join us to learn about colors
and flowers as we explore outside. Dress for the weather! Ages 2-5. $4 per child.

EXPLORER’S CLUB: Frogs & Toads!
Saturday, April 6th at 10 a.m.
Oakwoods Nature Center, Flat Rock
Join us each month to explore a new topic. This month we will journey outside to hike for Spring frogs and toads. Learn how to identify frogs and toads, what makes them special and more. Dress for the weather!

Bog-sucker and Timberdoodle are just some of the names that refer to the quirky little bird
known as the American Woodcock. Join us for a quick indoor overview of the Woodcock,
followed by a trip outdoors to witness the calls and dance of the male. Wear waterproof shoes
….they are called “bog-suckers” after all! $4 per child; $6 adult

EARTH DAY Clean Up!

Lake Erie Metroparks Food Bar, Brownstown
Help keep Lake Erie Metropark clean! Join us as we clean along the picnic areas and shoreline within
the Park. You or your group will be assigned an area of the park to help clean. We will join back up
at the Food Bar around noon for a FREE lunch!

USFWS Lake Sturgeon Restoration Program
Saturday, April 13th at 2 p.m.
Lake Erie Marshlands Museum, Brownstown
Join U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service Fish Biologist, Justin Chiotti, for an in-depth look
at what the USFWS is doing the in the Lake St. Clair—Detroit River corridor in an attempt
to restore the Lake Sturgeon to its former numbers. $5 adult; $3 child

Pink Full Moon Hike & Bonfire

Drop-in Owl Pellet Dissecting Day
Saturday, April 20th at 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Oakwoods Nature Center, Flat Rock
Stop in anytime between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. to learn about owls, owl pellets, and get your very own owl pellet dissection kit.
Our staff will help you work through the pellet to discover what the owl had for lunch, and we will attempt to put the skeleton
of the animal back together.
$5 per pellet

KNITTING IN NATURE: SHARING STITCHES

From beginner to expert, let’s get together, relax, knit, crochet, teach and learn.
Have a cup of coffee, a treat or two and make some new friends. This is not a class
on knitting or crocheting. This is a monthly gathering of people who love to knit and
crochet and want to “share stitches”.

this program series gives visitors a chance to investigate in detail some of the rarely seen items from the backroom. If you have ever wondered what we have, now is your chance to find out!
