A suspicious note found Wednesday inside Renton Junior High School in New Boston turned out to be nonthreatening, according to police.
“We were notified by Huron Schools administration and our school resource officer that a student located a note that said the word “bomb” on it stuffed inside a desk within a classroom at Renton Junior High,” Public Safety Director Everette Robbins said Wednesday afternoon.
“We immediately sent our detective bureau and evidence technician unit to the school to investigate. The investigation indicated that the note appeared to be written quite some time ago. The note was not located in a manner that appeared it was intended as a threat to students or staff. We do not believe that there is any imminent danger to the students or staff,” he said.
Kurt Mrocko, principal at Renton Junior High, sent out a message Wednesday to families informing them about the note.
Robbins said that he and school administration felt it was important to be transparent and provide all available information to the community, and that student safety is their top concern.
