The first measurable snow is expected to fall this weekend, according to the National Weather Service in Detroit.
Snow is expected to begin Friday after midnight and continue through Saturday afternoon.
About 1 to 3 inches of accumulation is possible across southeast Michigan.
The weather service says exact timing and total accumulation is unknown as the precise track of the low pressure system is still up-in-the-air.
