Capt. Shawn Williams of the Huron Township Fire Department was appointed as the lead coordinator for the Downriver Fire Investigation Task Force in October.
Williams, who started in Huron as a paid, on-call firefighter in 1993, has been assigned to the task force as Huron Township’s representative since 2007 and has completed formal training through the Michigan State Police Fire Training Unit.
“We are very proud this accomplishment and appreciative of all of Captain Williams’ hard work, not only as a member of this task force, but every day as he provides quality service for our residents. This new role brings many challenges for him, but with that it brings the opportunity for him to be part of this team’s future growth and success as a leader in the area of fire prevention and the war against arson,” said Public Safety Director Everette Robbins.
Williams was appointed as the assistant coordinator for the same task force in 2009 and in August 2010, he completed extensive accreditation process through the International Association of Fire Investigators to become a certified fire investigator.
“The expertise, reliability, and dedication of the men and women of our fire department is second to none. Captain Williams is a great representative of our community and now his leadership skills will be an asset to the entire Downriver area,” Robbins said.
