Huron School Board to interview 5 candidates for superintendent

The Huron School Board has narrowed their search for a new superintendent who will takeover for retiring Superintendent Richard Naughton on Feb. 1, 2018.

The school board met on Oct. 9 to review 27 applicants who applied for the position.

The five candidates selected to move forward will interview during sessions open to the public on Oct. 16 and 17 inside of the Huron High School Library.

Interview sessions on both days are scheduled to start at 6 p.m.

A second round of interviews is then planned for Oct. 23.

The school board has been assisted during the search process by Dr. Rodney Green, Michigan Association of School Boards consultant.

Candidates and the times they will be interviewed are as follows:

Monday, Oct 16:

6 p.m. — Julie Brown, Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum/Instruction at Linden Community Schools since 2014. Previously, she was Middle School Principal in Linden beginning in 2004. Also, she was High School Assistant Principal in Carmen-Ainsworth for four years. She taught English and math and coached for eight years in Ravenna and Carmen-Ainsworth.

7 p.m. — Pamela Campbell, Superintendent at Columbia Community Schools since 2012. Previously, she served as Superintendent of Lansing Christian School, Montpelier Schools and Tekonsha Schools over twelve years. Also, she was principal and assistant principal in Jonesville, Assistant Director of a conference center and taught math and computer applications.

8 p.m. — Donovan Rowe, Principal at Huron High School since 2008. Previously, he served as assistant principal for five years. He has also taught English, coached and held various leadership positions in the district.

Tuesday October 17:

6 p.m. — Rick Carsten, Superintendent at Ida Public Schools since 2010. Previously, he served as High School Principal at Genesee Schools for nine years. He also was High School Principal in Bath, Assistant Principal in Forest Hills, Assistant Principal/Athletic Director in Durand, and taught math at Flint Northern High School.

7 p.m. — Andy Shaw, Superintendent at Mason Consolidated Schools since 2015. Previously, he served as Superintendent at Pittsford for seven years. Also, he served as an elementary principal in Pittsford, taught fourth grade and coached in Hudson.
