Thousands of Texas residents are still in need of basic items following the aftermath of hurricane Harvey.

A local man that owns an equipment transport business is asking for donations to fill a semi-trailer that will be driven down to the Houston-area and distributed to those in need.

“Our goal is to fill a 53-foot trailer to send down to Houston. They are looking for just about anything,” said Jay McCumber, Huron Township resident and owner of Hollywood Equipment Transport.

“Whatever somebody wants to donate, we will make sure that it gets there. Our address is 19320 Middlebelt Road, which is four houses south of Sibley Road.”

McCumber said that all types of items are welcome to be donated, including mattresses, non-perishable food, water, blankets, pet food, and toiletries.

McCumber said that he and his family are looking to send the supplies in about 10 to 15 days, but he wants to get them as soon as possible for loading.

Drop-offs can be left in front of his large red building on the property if no-one is there to accept them personally.

“It does not matter what time of the day or night it is, they can donate in front of the big door in front of the red barn.”

He added that he will be working with the Red Cross to distribute the donations, and that he also has a connection with two FEMA officials on the ground near Houston.

McCumber can be reached at 734-320-7050 if there are any questions regarding donations.
