Train cameras help police identify hit-and-run suspect

Train cameras at the Pennsylvania Road crossing helped Romulus police identify and arrest a hit-and-run suspect that left the scene of an accident last weekend.

Romulus police were called to the area of Pennsylvania Road, east of Huron River Drive at 1 a.m. Aug. 20 after a man riding his bike was hit by a motorist who then left the scene.

A video recording helped police identify the vehicle involved, leading to an arrest.

“We are pleased that the cameras were able to assist not only the Romulus Police Department, but also the victim and his family get justice,” said Huron Public Safety Director Everette Robbins.
