Huron Township police have one man in custody after it is alleged that he fatally stabbed a father during an incident at Huron Estates mobile home community on Sunday evening.
Public Safety Director Everette Robbins says that the father, 49, was attempting to protect his son when an 18-year-old Taylor resident arrived to the mobile home community and started a fight at about 10:30 p.m. in the 22000 block of Charlemagne.
During the fight, the suspect allegedly stabbed the man and then fled the area.
Police responded to the community and immediately began CPR on the man, but he died at the scene.
Robbins said the exact motive is still unclear but it may be related to an ongoing feud between the suspect and the son.
Robbins said that the suspect was at the home about an hour before the stabbing occurred and that at some point during the evening, he was outside destroying property on the man’s home and yard.
Three other people who were with the suspect are also in police custody and are being treated as witnesses while police conduct their investigation.
The suspect was later arrested in Taylor during a traffic stop, Robbins said.
Huron Township police say the investigation is ongoing.
