Detroit Metropolitan Airport (DTW) is providing the community one last opportunity to share feedback on DTW’s Master Plan Update. The final Public Information Meeting is scheduled for Thursday, March 2, 2017, at the Wayne County Community College District Downriver Campus. The community is invited to stop by anytime between 5 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. to discuss the results of the planning process and recommendations. Airport subject matter experts will deliver brief introductory remarks at 5 p.m. and 6 p.m.
The Master Plan Update is a collaborative effort involving airport users, local businesses and community stakeholders to address the increasing needs of the airport’s customers and surrounding communities over the next 20 years. The final recommendations will guide future development of airport facilities and infrastructure.
“As a result of the Master Plan Update, there will not be any major changes like a runway expansion,” said Airport Authority CEO Joseph Nardone. “However, the work of our Airport Authority team and consultants was critical to helping us understand DTW’s future needs.”
“Throughout this process, we were able to hear from our community partners,” said Airport Authority Deputy Director of Planning Bryant Holt. “We value their opinions and know it’s important to review the Recommended Development Plan with them on March 2 before moving into the next phase.”
Review of the proposed Master Plan Update included two community meetings last year. It is expected the final Master Plan Update will be adopted by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) later this year.
