Year in review: The Huron Hub’s most popular stories in 2016

Est. March 2014

By Scott Bolthouse
Hub Editor

As we turn the page on yet another year and welcome 2017, it’s time to take a look back at the most popular stories that came out of Huron Township in 2016.

First and foremost, I’d like to send a personal “thank you” to those who have visited my webpage and social media pages, and have read and shared the articles that I post on a weekly basis. A second round of thanks goes out to the select few who have advertised on The Huron Hub — I appreciate your support. Last, and of course, not least, are the people in the community who send news tips and press releases to the website, email, and social media pages. Your input is critical in keeping the community informed about news and events in Huron Township.

The most popular article published this year by the Huron Hub gained over 15,000 views alone, and featured the demolition of the former Pinnacle Race Course on Friday, Jan. 22, 2016.

In 2016, The Huron Hub website continued to grow when compared to the previous two years of its operation. The website reached nearly 140,000 unique visitors this year, according to the website’s statistics. Those 140,000 visitors created almost 285,000 page views during the year.

That’s a considerable amount, especially when you take into account that Huron Township’s population, according to the 2010 census, is just over 15,800 residents. The Huron Hub reaches people all over the world, including transplanted Huron Township natives living in other states.

Our most popular stories are broken down by month, and include the articles that received the most views during that time.

Happy New Year!
