Following a recent month filled with continuous criminal activity in the Huron Estates mobile home community, Huron Township Police beefed up their presence at the park by implementing a special proactive policing program from May 31 through June 6.
During the policing initiative, Huron Police pulled over 93 vehicles during traffic stops, issued 57 citations, made 104 non-traffic contacts, arrested 11 people for misdemeanor offenses, made six warrant arrests, made one new felony arrest for possession of heroin, and arrested two people for curfew/parental responsibility violations.
“There have been many ongoing issues within the community over the past several weeks and months. Many of these issues are being caused by a small percentage of residents that live in the neighborhood. The intent of this operation was to send a clear message to those creating chaos within the community that it will not be tolerated,” Police Chief Everette Robbins said.
“The biggest issue inside this particular community is the lack of parental supervision over the kids in the neighborhood. It is important that parents know where their kids are and what they are doing.”
The special detail consisted of multiple ranking officers who were assigned to the area through various times throughout the week.
This included police command officers, a community policing officer, the k9 unit, unmarked detective bureau units and overtime shift units contracted by Huron Estates management.
“I really appreciate the management group stepping up to help us try and get the problem under control,” Robbins said.
“They have increased the number of hours that they contract an officer who will be assigned to the neighborhood. We will continue to step up enforcement throughout the summer. We will focus on the curfew laws, especially as school gets out for the summer. My advice for parents is to have your children inside their home prior to the curfew. If not, they, along with their child will be cited.”

Take the wrecking ball to that place….send them all back to Redford and Detroit.Problem solved!
I’m from Wyandotte and have lived here for 11 years. Most of the people are decent, hard working people.
Screw you…. not all of us are bad people…. management just needs to do something about the few bad apples… we would have a much better neighborhood…
When you have low cost housing…you attract scum. Not all,but 5% will screw up the whole place.Eliminate the housing, eliminate the problem.Managment can’t teach “parents” how to raise their turds. We can’t have the whole police force live in that trailer park 24/7.So screw you.
It’s too late for me and our loss, but glad to see this.
Send Yono and the chief out there to write BS tickets to New Boston residents, this PD is a Joke!!!!
^^^^Uh-oh poor Little dude must’ve gotten a ticket. Obey the law and you won’t have to worry about it! The police department has never been better and that is because of the hard work and dedication from our new Police Chief. Thank you Chief Robbins, you and your guys are doing an outstanding job!
It Sure would be nice if drugs weren’t being sold here.I watch almost ever single day as my neighbor sells drugs. Drugs are being sold in the nicest part of the Estates and quite frankly I’m getting sick of it and getting ready to call the police or the DEA not sure how to handle it yet I used to like living in Huron Estates but not with this going on.

Cheap to live here? Are you kidding me! Between the lot rent and water bill you can’t afford to get out once your in! A huge thanks to HPD for all their efforts to make this a better place to live. It beats most city’s Downriver that’s for sure. At least the police actually care about the people more than revenue.
