Authorities in Huron Township say that 50 year old Charles Howell drowned Sunday evening in a pool located in the Huron Estates Mobile Home Complex, 22000 Inkster Road.
Huron Police Chief Everette Robbins said that they are still unsure if the drowning was caused by a medical emergency or if it was an accident, but they have ruled out any foul play.
Huron Estates resident and Huron Hub follower Dana Garcia said that she and her husband were arriving home Sunday at approximately 8:30 p.m. when they noticed an array of police and emergency lights and commotion near the pool.
Garcia said that Howell is “a very well known guy in the park” and that he may have had some medical issues that plagued him, however, the cause of the drowning is still not confirmed.
Garcia said that EMTs worked on resuscitating Howell for roughly 45 minutes.
A scheduled autopsy to be performed by the Wayne County Medical Examiner’s office will help determine the official cause of death, but the information could take a few days to become available, according to Robbins.
