The unit was also presented with a special certificate of appreciation from Romulus Public Safety Director Jadie Settles.
“On behalf of the City of Romulus and the Romulus Police Department, I want to express my profound appreciation for your assistance, along with the assistance of the Huron Township Mounted Unit, with police coverage in the city on July 2, 2015 during our annual fireworks display,” said Patrol Operations Captain Joshua Monte in a letter addressed to Reserve Officer Cherie Stump.
“We have received many compliments from those in attendance regarding the Huron Township Police Department Mounted Unit,” said Monte.
Huron Township Police Chief Everette Robbins also thanked the unit for their service to Romulus during their fireworks display.
“I want to thank you and your unit for the way you represented Huron Township. You continue to be a great asset to our residents and I am proud of your efforts, not only as the Chief of Police, but as a resident of this community,” said Robbins.
The mounted unit in Huron Township made their debut at 2014 Applefest. The unit consists of eight certified horses and volunteer officers and is sponsored by the Chapp Oil Company.
