57 year old David John Deplanche, a convicted sex offender whose last known address is listed in Huron Township, was arrested for failing to register a current address per the Sex Offender Registration Act.

Deplanche was arrested on Thursday, April 16 and arraigned on Saturday, April 18 and was given a $10,000 cash bond after he was unable to provide a current place of residence.

Deplanche will face one count of failing to register, which holds a four year felony sentence. He is also charged with his third violation for failing to register an address following two prior convictions, which is a ten year felony offense.

According to Police Chief Everette Robbins, on Feb. 28, 2015, the Huron Township Police Department Detective Bureau conducted a proactive check of the 29 registered sex offenders that are reported as living in the township.

The results of the check showed that 25 of the 29 sex offenders living in Huron still reside in their registered locations and were fully compliant.

One offender registered himself in a new city, while three warrant requests were submitted to the Wayne County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office for felony charges for failure to verify addresses with the Sex Offender Registry.

“This arrest is the result of some great work being done on a daily basis by our Detective Bureau. We will continue to be proactive and keep the pressure on persons on the sex offender registry to register appropriately,” said Robbins.
