Huron Township December police beat: Larcenies reported from unlocked vehicles, motor vehicle accident at the Metro Park entrance

The following information was submitted by the Huron Township Police Department. 

“We are beginning to get reports of larceny from automobiles. Many of these complaints are unlocked vehicles and our breaking and entering was an unlocked residence. We remind our residents once again to please lock their vehicles and residences,” said Huron Police Chief Everette Robbins.

December 3 – Officers were called to the 23000 block of Huron River Drive for a breaking and entering. Entry was made through and unlocked rear door. Nothing was taken.

December 3 – Officers responded to the 34000 block of Huron River Drive for a death investigation. A 72 year old Huron Township resident was pronounced deceased. The death was ruled natural.

December 14 – a resident in the 28000 block of Spruce reported her 13 year old daughter missing. The child was recovered safe and returned to the residence.

December 15 – Officers responded to the Michigan Memorial Cemetery for a suspicious abandoned vehicle. The owner of the vehicle, a 35 year old Lincoln Park Resident, was located deceased by after a several hour long search of the area. The death was ruled a suicide. The Michigan State Police K9 unit along with the Monroe County Sheriff Department Air Support unit assisted Huron Township Police Officers with the search and recovery.

December 19 – Officers were called to the 36000 block of Sibley Road, Hy-Lines Utility Services, for a Breaking and Entering complaint. Entry was made by cutting a hole in the fence around the facility and three vehicles were broken into. Various tools and equipment was taken.

December 20 – Officers responded to the 20100 block of Savage Road for a Domestic Assault. A 26 year old Huron Township resident was arrested.

December 24 – Officers responded to the 24000 block of Middlebelt Road for a report of Domestic Assault. A 55 year old Huron Township resident was arrested for Domestic Assault.

December 25 – Officers were called to the 28800 block of Betsy for a report of a Domestic Assault. A 46 year old Huron Township Resident was arrested for Domestic Assault.

December 25 – Officers responded to the Entrance of the Metro Park for a report of a vehicle that crashed through a guard rail. The two occupants of the vehicle sustained serious injuries. Survival flight responded to the scene and one occupant was air lifted to the University of Michigan Hospital. The Downriver Crash Team assisted with the investigation. Alcohol and speed appear to be factors in the crash. The investigation is ongoing and criminal charges are being sought.

December 25 – Officers responded to the 17000 block of Hyde Park for a death investigation. An 85 year old Huron Township Resident was reported deceased at the residence. The death was ruled natural.

December 29 – A resident reported a Larceny from a Motor vehicle in the 36000 block of Willow Road. Entry was made by throwing a landscaping brick through the vehicle window. Miscellaneous items were taken.

December 29 – Two residents in the 25000 block of Creek Side Ct. reported that someone went through their unlocked vehicles. Nothing was taken in either incident.

December 29 –  A resident reported an attempted larceny from automobile in the 17400 block of Ava Court. The vehicle was left unlocked; nothing was taken.
