The Huron Township Police Department debuted it’s first ever mounted unit during a private gathering on Saturday, Oct. 4, 2014 prior to the Applefest parade.

The unit, which was funded by The Chapp and Bushey Oil Company, is lead by Huron Township resident Cherie Stump and consists of eight certified horses and volunteer officers. Their presence will be felt throughout the weekend at Applefest as they patrol the festival. The until also marched in the parade that kicked off the festivities through downtown New Boston.

“The Mounted Unit was funded by The Chapp and Bushey Oil Company. We cannot thank them enough for their support,” said Police Chief Everette Robbins.

Huron Township Officials, as well as friends and family of the Huron TWP Police Department, were on hand to witness the debut of the unit.
